Chalok Baan Kao Beach

Chalok Baan Kao Beach is a gem of a tropical paradise. It is one of the most beautiful, but it’s also well-equipped with numerous establishments for a comfortable stay.

This spot is quiet and tranquil, making it a favourite among families with children, as well as honeymooners.

Chalok Baan Kao Beach & Bay, Accommodation, Resorts & Diving, Koh Tao

Located on the south of Koh Tao, this beach is the third-largest on the island. The beach is safe for swimming, especially for kids, because it has a gentle slope that leads into shallow water. The waters here are clear and relaxing, but you can head over to the nearby Cape June Juea, Buddha Rock Cape, and Freedom Beach for some snorkelling. Shark Bay is within walking distance too.

This beach has several accommodation choices from budget bungalows to luxury resorts, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, clinics, travel agencies, dive shops, and convenience stores. There is also some great shopping nearby. If you are looking for a laid-back place that has it all in Koh Tao, this is the perfect place to base yourself.

When visitors approach the beach from the sea, you can’t help but notice the incredible rock formation that is shaped like a seated Buddha. The main beach itself is spacious, and even if it’s full, you’ll barely feel it. The coast stretches for several hundred meters, and on each end, the beach gets deeper, which is more suitable for adults who’d like to swim and relax.

From here, there are many fun activities to indulge in. Chalok Baan Kao Beach is conveniently located near several of Koh Tao’s most incredible viewpoints; many of which are just a short hike away.

Getting around is relatively easy; simply rent a motorbike or taxi to explore the area. Best of all, this bay is protected from the elements for most of the year since the east and west seasonal winds don’t have an impact on this area.
