Located on Koh Samui’s southern coast, visitors on the beach will need to drive around 15 minutes to Lamai, or 40 minutes to Chaweng, if you want to access shopping, nightlife, and other modern conveniences. This is why this spot is preferred among visitors seeking isolation. But that doesn’t mean the area is void of any other attractions; in fact, there are numerous nearby destinations to visit while here.

That being said, the Butterfly Garden is well worthy of a visit. Perched up on the hill, the Butterfly Garden is flanked by greenery and is home to many colourful butterflies that make it an excellent afternoon trip out of the beach.

Those travelling with kids will love the Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo, where you can come up close and personal with marine life such as sharks, turtles, catfish, corals, and many others that typically live in the deep end of the ocean. You can also feed massive turtles from their tanks.

On Laem Set Beach, there is a sprinkling of a few upscale resorts, spas, and fine dining establishments. The restaurants here have terrific views, as well as local and international cuisine.

The coast itself is characterised by very soft sand, which makes it perfect for enjoying some afternoon cocktails. What makes this beach stand out in Koh Samui is that it’s significantly less developed than other areas, so you should visit before this all changes and while it still has its own unique charm and magic.
