Families and travellers looking for fun in the sun love this beach for its laid back vibe and excellent snorkelling.
Mae Haad Beach, Resorts, Bungalows & Cove Snorkelling, Koh Phangan
During November to April, the high tide makes this beach the perfect spot for swimming. The beachfront area is dotted with establishments for eating, drinking, and relaxation.
During the low tide, you can see one of the beach’s main attractions: the stunning white sandbar, which connects Mae Haad beach to Koh Ma. Due to its close proximity to the Koh Ma National Marine Park, this area attracts novice divers as well as snorkelers. If you’d like to learn diving, this area is ideal because of its shallow reefs, and 25 meters is already its maximum depth. There are no currents or technical dive areas, so it’s suitable for getting more practice dives in.
Tour operators are ready to take you on island hopping trips to explore the nearby beaches. These packages usually include snorkelling around Koh Ma and a beachfront lunch at Bottle Beach or Chaloklum. However, what makes the beach special is that it remains one of Koh Phangan’s most pristine beaches and it is rarely ever packed.
If you stay here, you will be far from the chaotic crowds of the full moon parties, and you’ll be able to enjoy seclusion and quiet. Additionally, it’s a west-facing beach, so visitors are greeted by magnificent sunsets at the end of the day.
