Phaeng Waterfall is one of the most magnificent attractions on Koh Phangan.
Located in the centre of the island, it is also the largest waterfall here, but it’s also easy to access by foot or bicycle. It is part of the lush Thansadej National Park.

To get to the falls, you will have to travel to the Domsila Viewpoint, which is found around 200 meters following the intersection. The trail near the cascade may be steep, although visitors can hang on to the ramp rope. It will take a little effort, so it requires good trekking shoes and not just regular flip-flops for safety.
The viewpoint is exceptionally beautiful on a bright, sunny day! If you still have energy, it’s recommended to continue the path that will take you to the forest located on the top of Khao Ra, Koh Phangan’s highest mountain.
Other things you may want to consider before planning your trip to the falls is to bring along a packed lunch and refreshments. You can enjoy these before or after a dip at the falls. Most importantly, don’t forget to bring a camera because it’s incredibly picturesque and you wouldn’t want to leave without a few photos.
There are no admission fees needed to enter the national park, but you do need to pay for parking. Take note that smoking and drinking alcohol inside the national park is forbidden.
Phaeng Waterfall makes for a good day trip while you’re on the island, but if you’d like to spend the night, you may either camp or stay at a guesthouse.
