Sai Nuan Beach

Sai Nuan Beach is a beautiful hideaway in Koh Tao. You’ll find a pristine, unspoiled beach; powdery white sand, and clear turquoise waters.

There are two beaches that make up this area, but if you visit, the chances are high that you’ll have much of it to yourself.

Sai Nuan Beach & Bay, Accommodation, Resorts & Bungalows, Koh Tao

It takes quite an effort to get here, but it’s all worth it. Found on the island’s southwest area, the main beach is accessible only by foot, or by hiring a long tail boat. If you do decide to walk here, expect a lovely but easy hike through lush jungle.

Another option is to take a bicycle and park it at the entrance to Jansom Bay. Because it’s so well hidden, you can be assured that the area is devoid of any vehicle noises. Travellers flock to this beach because it reminds them of the old Koh Tao; back in the ’80s, which was quiet and relaxing.

Coconut trees frame the shore, while a grassy area makes a safe playground for kids. The beach is perfect for snorkelling due to the presence of shallow reefs, while boulders offer natural protection for the bay.

The most popular swimming area is close to the 2nd beach, characterised by two big groups of boulders which are easy to spot. The marine life is abundant; you’ll find harlequin sweetlips, batfish, threadfin butterflyfish, trevally, and if you’re lucky, some turtles too.

Many come to this beach to get away from busier areas such as the nearby Sairee beach. There are minimal accommodation options here that consisting of basic bungalows and a resort, but for those seeking isolation, that’s a good thing!

If you’re planning a day trip here, bring a book, some food, and refreshments along. You might be surprised to know how content you’ll be just looking out into the clear blue ocean while swaying on a hammock.
