Koh Phangan temples are a major tourist attraction. Though the island may be famous for its parties and beaches, the temples represent the local’s dedication to religion.

The Kuan Yin Temple is a famous shrine on the island. Renowned for its beauty and historical significance, it is today one of the most important attractions in Koh Phangan. Within the temple are three buildings. One houses a Guan Yin statue; known as the goddess of mercy. The other is filled with various Taoist gods, while the third is where visitors can make donations. A statue of the smiling Buddha is also a main draw in the Kuan Yin Temple.

Wat Khao Tham is unique among the Koh Phangan temples because it functions as a meditation centre. Anyone who would like to meditate or learn how to is welcome to visit. Many international travellers who seek out meditation during their trip frequent Wat Khao Tham.

Wat Phu Khao Noi is the oldest temple on the island. Also known as the Small Mountain Temple, it serves as a Buddhist meditation centre to locals as well as foreign travellers. Even if you don’t plan to meditate, Wat Phu Khao Noi is worth visiting to appreciate its peaceful and scenic environment.

Wat Chaloklum is a beautiful destination among Koh Phangan’s temples. It is filled with stunning gold embellishments and intricate décor that catch the eye. As the temple is quite small, a visit will not take long, but you are encouraged to take a stroll to truly appreciate the many fine details.
