Wat Sawang Arom is a small, quaint temple near Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui.
Getting here is easy, especially if you are driving or taking a motorbike; just take the 4169 ring road on the way to Chaweng Beach. The temple isn’t big, so it can be quite easy to miss.

What makes this temple unique is that it’s not as touristy as the other wats on the island, which is ideal for visitors who want to see unique attractions without having to deal with hoards of other travellers. Here, you’re guaranteed solace, peace, and quiet as you explore the temple and its surrounding areas, and even take some photographs.
Near the temple are some breathtaking viewpoints from where you can take in views of Chaweng Beach. Better yet, after your visit, why not head down to the beach for a change of pace. After all, Chaweng is one of the most popular beaches in Koh Samui, known for a terrific selection of restaurants and vibrant beach life.
To make the most out of your day, it’s recommended to visit the temple in the morning, followed by a full day of activity or relaxation at the beautiful white sand beach of Chaweng.
Wat Sawang Arom also functions as a monastery and residence for Buddhist monks, so you may come across some of them during your visit.
The temple is open every day during daylight hours, and admission is free. It’s located near the Chaweng School, south of Tesco Lotus.
