The Koh Phangan Half Moon Festival is one of the island’s most epic and unique parties.
This outdoor dance event is smaller than the famous Full Moon Party held at Haad Rin Beach, but it’s still one of the most popular festivals on the island.
Koh Phangan Half Moon Festival, 2024 Party Dates, Tickets & Location
Save the dates for the upcoming Halfmoon Festival, the ultimate bi-monthly tropical party experience that’s become a cornerstone of Koh Phangan’s party scene. Nestled among Thailand’s pristine beaches, this event offers more than just music. It’s a captivating blend of culture and entertainment against the stunning backdrop of one of Thailand’s most famous party islands.
Many travellers prefer it to the Full Moon Party because it’s smaller and more intimate, meaning the party environment is much more secure. This way, you have a more carefree experience as you spend hours with friends in one of Asia’s hottest outdoor parties.
During the party, revellers dance all night to international DJs spinning techno, house, and EDM music. Partygoers are encouraged to come in any outfit, no matter how crazy. The space is thoughtfully decorated with mind-blowing visual projections, UV lights, and more.
Several stages play a range of music throughout the night, so there will be something for everyone at the party. The festivities go on rain or shine, so if you come during the rainy season, you may want to bring a waterproof bag for your valuables.
The party is run by a private company, which, for many, means better organisation and security than the Full Moon Parties. The organisers carefully thought about the facilities during the party, so you’ll find bathrooms, and there’s lots of room to dance. Several stages pump music from speakerphones, so you can move around if you’d like to listen and dance to different kinds of music.
The Koh Phangan Half Moon Festival is held twice a month, one week before and after the Full Moon Party. It is advisable to check the schedule online, as the dates may change to cater to certain Buddhist holidays.
The location is set in a forest clearing close to 2 kilometres inland in Baan Tai, on the southern coast of Koh Phanga.
At night, pop-up food stalls and bars sell inexpensive food, drinks, and refreshments. There are also usually fun face and body paint booths in which everyone participates.
