Koh Phangan to Koh Samui, Ferry Schedule, Distance, Cost & Boat Prices
The quickest way to get to Koh Samui is to take a high-speed catamaran, which only takes around thirty minutes. One way costs around 350 baht. These ferries depart from Koh Phangan’s Thong Sala Pier, so make sure that you arrive at least 20 minutes before the departure time. The ferries tend to arrive in the Maenam Pier in Koh Samui. However, some ferry companies do have their own piers.
If you are departing Koh Phangan from the Full Moon Party locations, there is also a boat that departs Haad Rin and arrives at Samui’s Big Buddha Pier. Taking this route is more convenient since you won’t have to travel as much to get to the nearest pier. There are four departure times that leave Haad Rin for Samui daily; although they tend to change, you can check online for the current schedule. This route costs around 200 baht.
There is also another express boat that departs from the eastern beaches of Koh Phangan. However, these boats are smaller and will only operate in good weather.
Keep in mind that it isn’t possible to transport your car rental with you from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui. Doing so requires travelling back to Donsak, then taking a large ferry where you can take a car with you.
No matter which route you take, always book in advance – especially during peak seasons to ensure you get a seat.
