Koh Phangan to Surat Thani

If you intend to travel from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani, there are multiple transport options available.

Expect a travel time of around 1.5 to 2 hours if you take a fast catamaran, or 2.5 to 3 hours if you take a slower but cheaper ferry. There are several boat companies that service this route.

Koh Phangan to Surat Thani, Ferry Timetable, Price, Airport & Train Station

All Koh Phangan ferries to Surat Thani will leave from the Thong Sala Pier, which is found on the island’s western side. To get to the pier, you will have to hire a songthaew. It costs around 100 Thai baht on the songthaew although this may increase to around 250 Thai baht if you come from one of the beaches on the north.

Upon arrival in Surat Thani, your boat will dock at the Donsak pier. Each ferry company has its own pier. Donsak is around 60 kilometres away from Surat Thani’s town centre. You may organise your own transport once you get to Donsak, although keep in mind that taxis here tend to jack up their prices. For this reason, it is recommended to purchase combination tickets while you are still in Koh Phangan.

When you buy a ferry and car combination ticket, it’s much less of a hassle, and you’ll be able to have a reasonably-priced minivan or bus to take you to your destination in Surat Thani.

There are currently two operators that offer the quickest boat services from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani, and they have similar prices as well as levels of comfort. One of them may take longer due to a stop at Koh Samui. The good news is that they also offer combination tickets that provide you with train tickets already.

Another ferry services this route but it’s slower compared to the high-speed catamarans, and much cheaper. If you aren’t in a hurry, this may be the best choice for you.
