Travelling from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan will take you from one world to another; each island has a distinct character and appeal, but both are equally fascinating in their own right.
If you want to experience the best of tropical Thai islands, visiting both destinations is highly recommended. Thankfully, getting from one island to another is easy and affordable.
Koh Samui to Koh Phangan, Ferry Times, Distance, Schedule & Prices
A small boat can also take you from Koh Samui directly to Haad Rin, also known as the epicentre of the lunar parties such as the Full Moon and Half Moon Party. These boats will depart from the Big Buddha Pier. The schedule changes frequently, but there are usually three to four departures from Koh Samui each day; just check online for the updated schedule. The journey from Big Buddha Pier to Haad Rin is around 50 minutes, and the tickets cost 200 baht.
Another express boat can take you to Haad Rin, as well as the other beaches found in the east coast of Koh Phangan. These boats are much smaller and less comfortable, and they only operate if the weather is good.
Once you’ve completed the journey from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan, you may want to arrange for your next transport options. A taxi or a songthaew can take you to your hotel, and from there you may rent a motorbike or a bicycle for the duration of your travels.
