Thong Nai Pan

Thong Nai Pan is a beautiful beach area located in the north-eastern part of Koh Phangan. It’s made up of two famous beaches: Thong Nai Pan Yai and Thong Nai Pan Noi.

This area is one of the most famous in southern Thailand, valued for its seclusion and natural beauty.

The beaches are named after their sizes; in the Thai language, “yai” translates to “large” while “noi” translates to small. These two beaches are only 15 minutes away from each other, separated by a short but scenic hike.

Either of these beaches is a terrific spot to view the sunrise, which is worth waking up for each day. These areas are known for being very relaxing; a far cry from the beach parties and chaos of the busier parts of Koh Phangan. This is the ideal place to get away from it all and truly relax. There are yoga classes, spas and massage parlours, and a handful of laid-back bars and restaurants here. Due to its serene nature, it’s also a great place to catch up on your reading.

Both beaches in Thong Nai Pan have convenient tourist amenities. These include ATM’s, pharmacies, a handful of shops, and tour agent services.

To get to this area, you’ll have to go to the Thong Sala harbour in Koh Phangan. From here, you can hail a taxi or a pick-up truck which can take you to either of these beaches. These vehicles usually have a sign on their exterior that tells you the locations that they can take you to.

An alternative way of getting here would be to walk or take a ride to town, and from there you can rent a motorcycle which you can take to the beaches. However, it isn’t advisable to take a motorbike here during the rainy season, which is when the roads become extremely slippery and dangerous, especially if you aren’t an experienced motorbike rider.
